We started this race 20 years ago with 25 participants and a turkey prize for each winner. My how we've grown. Yet, what continues to remain is our rich sense of community, and the celebration of health, wellness, and connection. We are so humbled and honored that so many people have built time honored family traditions that include gathering together on our start lines. Thank you. It brings us so much joy. And we are excited to offer you the Best Year Yet with our 20th anniversary, so spread the word. The more the merrier!
As always, 100% of the proceeds of our Annual Catonsville Turkey Trot race go directly to the CHS Cross Country program, including the purchase of uniforms, training tools, and travel expenses, and the philanthropy causes we support. When you participate in our race you are also giving back to your local community. For our 2023 donation, funds were raised for the Westside Men's Emergency Shelter, a local community based shelter that provides emergency food and shelter to men in need. We are proud to be donating to the non-profit Turn Around, inc an organization dedicated to providing services to survivors of sexual violence, intimate domestic partner violence, and human trafficking in Baltimore. To learn more, or to donate directly , please visit here.
Through funds raised with our annual turkey trot race, we have been able to donate thousands of dollars directly towards Keely Horch's recovery fund, the Portalli's of Ellicott City relief efforts respectively, and also to the Carol Saffran-Brinks Memorial Scholarship fund. Through this fund, we have been able to provide six $1,000. scholarships to Catonsville Cross Country and Track and Field runner graduates, Panigiotis Marousis, Haben Tesfay, Myla Apernathy, Anthony Okoye, Jack Roseboom, Kyle Lane, Eva White, Sharon Kalb, Graham Strzelecki, Anna Piermattei and Caroline Tippett who have all pursued a collegiate running career at their prospective colleges. Additionally, in 2017 we were honored to award Catonsville High School senior Mikaylan Diallo $1,000 through the In the Face of Adversity Scholarship.

The Course:
There will be a SEPARATE 1 mile fun run on a 1 loop course beginning at 8:10am. The 1 mile course is one large loop and we are excited to be able to offer the same finish line chute experience to our 1 milers as our 5k racers. The 1 mile kids' fun run is timed, but is not a chip timed event. Adults: there are youth age group awards for this run, so please be mindful of this when you come through the chute.
The 5k will begin at 8:30am on Rolling Rd by the school's entrance, and will then wind, cross country style, through the beautiful campus of Catonsville High School. The 5K Race is a chip timed event.
With the safety and race integrity of our participants in mind, strollers are not allowed on the 5k race course. We can't wait though until those baby legs can join us on race day!
Due to the course constraints, we ask that runners stay to the right side of the course to allow faster runners to pass on the left. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Please be mindful to wear your race bib on your OUTER MOST LAYER of clothing. This is how your time and place are recorded.
